About the artist

Rooted in
classical tradition

As a child, Bre was fascinated by the shadows made by the plants in the garden. This in part inspired her to start creating art. Throughout her childhood and into her teen years, Bre experimented with creating her own art under the study of Harold "Pete" Petersen. She attended Utah State University, studying a Bachelor's of Science in Fine Arts.

When working at the Fine Arts Centre in Colorado Springs as a docent, as well as a library technician at a local primary school, Bre acquired a large number of materials removed from circulation and decommissioned. She recalled making paper dolls as a girl, and decided to apply some of those principles to create pieces using upcycled papers. Using the text density on the page to create light and dark, Bre layers oil paint onto the paper to create unique masterpieces.

Today, Bre creates art out of her home studio. She primarily uses oil, watercolour, and a mix of other materials to create her pieces. Inspired by the world around her, she continues to create art that is meaningful and deeply personal.
